Wolfstravaganza, the sequel!!

After the howling success of 2009's wolf statue event, the town decided to follow up in 2010 with. . .absolutely nothing. This resulted in enough disappointed murmuring that the town decided to try again in 2011, only that year they used tiny little identical statues that were scattered about within various stores. This was far less of a success than was the 2009 wolf hunt.

And so for 2012 they decided to be all wild and radical and actually do again the original and most popular event. Once more, dozens of brightly-coloured wolves lurk about the streets of Wolf Hills!

I decided to go out and track down each one of them, and to share the results of my hunt with the lot of you. Don't you all feel special now?

Without further ado, the latest crop of wolves in Wolf Hills:

1) rEVOLution Wolf

No, that isn't a typo. That is this wolf's name. I have no idea what the EVOL part is supposed to be; this particular wolf is sponsored by a local hardware store.

As you can see, this wolf's motif is the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution (at least; perhaps the Articles of Confederation or something else is in there, too). Apparently this wolf has a very independent yet well-ordered personality.

6) Muster at Wolf Creek

Sponsored by the town, and guarding the gate into the local Muster Ground. This is where the local militia gathered before marching forth to expel those rascally red-coats from the country.

As such, the wolf shows off various scenes relating to that event, as well as a map illustrating the events of one of the battles (and overseen by a giant fly, apparently, which is probably the real reason why the red-coats ran away).

8) Sol LeWolf

Sponsored by a local realtor, but lives behind the art museum that Vincent stands in front of.

As is only fitting for a Minimalist, this guy is one of the smaller statues.

And this is probably my second-favourite of all the wolves this year.

The USS Tolovana was a ship built for the US Navy in the Second World War. Basically, she was a floating service station that sailed along with the warships and refueled them. I have no idea what the ship has to do with us up here in the mountains; presumably, she had some connection with the artist or sponsors.

32) Aida

Sponsored by. . .CRAZY FORMER-NEIGHBOUR LADY!!!!!! As this one is on display on the corner of her property, I tried to be discreet when sneaking up to photograph it. Even so, as I approached I heard a commotion in the house, the sound of madly-dashing footsteps thudding through the building, and then the slamming and locking of multiple locks of the front door near the wolf. . .
